Cherries, a small bowl

oil painting of cherries on paper

Cherries, oil on paper, 8″x11.5″, (c) 2016 K.M. Lawson

I find myself in that position, spot, that most artists find themselves. It is the spot of does the creator like what s/he has created. I don’t know if I like this or not. Parts of it delight me such as the Rainier cherries. Other parts nag me, the values especially the shadows, and I want to go back. Yet, it can’t be undone, unpainted, and redoing parts would probably ruin it. I learned, though. I learned to play with the cadmium reds, yellows, and alizarin crimson. I learned that this painting thing can be as enjoyable as it is challenging.
