September nom for the brain. It’s important to feed the brain occasionally, so I hopped (drove my gas guzzling beast) over to the library (temple of knowledge) to see what there was to offer (take home for free). I picked up this stack of books:
- Yoga-Sutras of Patañjali: with the exposition of Vyasa, translated by Pandit Usharbudh Arya, D. Litt
- inspired lives, ed. by Clea McDougall, a collection of essays published by ascent magazine
- The Yoga Tradition: its history, literature, philosophy and practice, by Georg Feuerstein, Ph.D.
I don’t expect to read all of the Yoga-Sutras or Yoga Tradition; however, Feuerstein’s book has been very interesting so far especially in the discussion of the ego and identity and the limitations they impose on the self (capital S), which leads me to last weeks Radiolab on limits.
